Clean Out Your Cooler and Get Rid of Mould, Mildew, and Nasty Smells

If you’ve got some summer parties or camping trips planned, a cooler is always a good idea. They keep food and drinks ice-cold on even the hottest summer days! However, the problem with coolers is that you can often end up with long periods of time where you don’t use them, so they spend a lot of time in dark, musty cupboards. This can easily lead to mould growth and foul odours taking over the inside of your cooler – not what you want to deal with on a summer picnic! Read on to find out how you can quickly and easily clean out your cooler and keep it free of bad smells, mould, and mildew.

Step 1

Mould and Mildew Remover is the ideal detergent for cleaning out coolers Find yourself a dishcloth and soak it in warm water. Use a small amount mould and mildew-removing detergent like our Mould and Mildew Remover on your dishcloth and wipe down the entire inside of your cooler, making sure you get into every nook and cranny. Be careful to avoid scratching the lining of your cooler by scrubbing too hard.

Step 2

Repeat this process for the outside of your cooler. Again, make sure you get into every nook and cranny.

Step 3

Using a different (clean) dishcloth, soak it with clean water and use it to wipe down the inside once again. The detergent should have had time to work its magic on your cooler and it’ll now be clean and odour-free! Do the same on the outside of your cooler.

Step 4

Allow your cooler to dry with the lid open. It’s best to let this happen naturally to get rid of any damp which will encourage mould and mildew to return. If you need your cooler immediately, dry it thoroughly with a dry cloth, but make sure you don’t leave any moisture inside your cooler at all.
