Many car enthusiasts appreciate that the thing that often sets the aesthetic appeal of a car off is its detail. Yes, alloy wheels and bodywork make a huge difference, but things like a deep black trim detail can give your beloved vehicle that extra element that truly elevates it. Likewise, when the trim starts to look a bit dull and scuffed, it can bring the look of the whole car down. Gleaming paintwork looks great, but it can only highlight a faded, battered trim even more!
So, how can you restore it back to its former glory?
General car washing and detailing often won’t make much impact on the trim. Trim is almost always made of polypropylene, a flexible kind of plastic. As you might expect, this is very different to the coated metal that makes up car bodywork, so it doesn’t come up as well when washed and waxed. Unfortunately, shampoo just isn’t capable of restoring faded, weathered plastic as well as metal – it can’t do everything! If you really want to get your trim looking like new, it needs a specialist trim restorer product. A product such as Pro-Kleen Trim and Bumper Shine is just the thing for this job.

A general cleaning product will get the trim clean, but a trim restorer will give it that deep, black sheen that it had when you bought the car. It’s specially formulated for use on plastic and rubber trim, covering faded patches, scuffs, and watermarks with a pristine black sheen. In fact, it offers 3 benefits – it restores it, it adds shine, and it even protects it by forming a barrier against water, traffic film, and weather conditions. This will help prevent damage that can dull it over time, so it’ll stay looking better for longer.
Applying trim restorer
Trim restorer is really easy to apply and can be incorporated into your car detailing routine:
Wash and dry the surface
The product should only be applied to clean and dry surfaces.
Spray the product evenly over the trim
It will dry in just a few minutes which, as well as making the process quicker, means there is less chance for dust and debris to settle on the surface which could spoil the finish.
Buff out
Buffing off the surface with a microfibre cloth will not only get rid of any excess product but will bring out a beautiful sheen.
Not just for trims
This product is suitable for use on all external plastic areas of your car, including bumpers, grilles, fenders, mirror housing, tyre walls, mud flaps, and vinyl roofs.
